About us
Kara de Juan was birth out of a desire to showcase the versatility of the carabao horn as a medium for design.
The carabao is the Philippines' symbol of hard work and resilience. It is an integral representation of the Filipino culture.
From what was once discarded and useless, we transform and repurpose wastage into beautiful fashion pieces. Kara de Juan adopts sustainability with ingenuity and creativity.
At Kara de Juan, we fell in love and saw the beauty of the carahorn - an unwanted part from handling carabao or buffalo meat.
Our skillful artisans transform the material into statement pieces of bags, fashion accessories and home items. The technique is tedious in preparation, precise in execution and the outcome -elegant pieces of wearable art.
Each Kara de Juan piece is made with dedication and done with pride. Each Kara de Juan piece represents what is good and praiseworthy of a Filipino.

Pricing and Customization

Lead Time
Lead time for orders depend on quantity and design, figures are a rough estimate and may adjust accdg to manpower. Shipping time is not included in lead time.
- For bags, 50 to 60 pieces (per design) per month
- For necklaces and lanyards, 80 to 100 pieces (per design) per month
- For earrings, 100 to 120 pieces (per design) per month
Please note that Kara de Juan is a slow fashion brand. Our items involve handcrafting. Beautiful things take time and it's always worth the wait.
Shipping
- Please note that all orders are shipped directly from Manila, Philippines.
- For international orders, items are shipped with Fed Ex or another courier with cost-efficient rates.
- Shipping fees will be calculated either by weight or size of the box (whichever is cheaper) and will be shouldered by the buyer.
- Upon receipt, local custom duties, taxes and fees may apply. These fees are not included in the price or shipping expenses. You may contact your local customs office for information regarding shipping from the Philippines to your country.
- FedEx will act as a broker in collecting any customs due and may require additional information including personal tax ID.
Sustainably Sourced
The horns are discarded remnants from meat markets that are thrown away as unedible parts. These are set aside by meat houses, naturally cleaned to be repurposed as material components. This process reduces wastage through upcycling. No carabao was directly harmed to obtain the horns.
Ethically Crafted
Our artisans work in an environment that is safe, well-ventilated and has access to ample natural lighting and space.
Disclaimer
Carabao horn is made of keratin which is extremely insoluble in water and organic solvents. The pieces can withstand day to day handling unless forcefully damaged. Rough handling may cause parts of the material to crack or break.
